courses,butIespeciallylikedmymajorsubject.Myfacultyadvisor,Dr.Wen,helpedmechoosethecourseswhichwereofthemostinteresttome.Healsoencouragedmetodooutsidereadingandresearch.WithhishelpIbecamealabassistantwhichbroadenedmyknowledgeofchemistry.Dr.WenalsostrengthenedmydesiretostudyabroadandsuggestedseveralAmericanUniversitieswhichhadgoodreputationsinmyfield.Asaresultofhisencouragementandagreatdealofstudy,IgraduatedfromBeijingUniversitywithveryhighgrades―almostatthetopofmyclass.
Inadditiontomyprimaryinterestinchemistry,IhavealwaysbeeninterestedinChineseliteratureandpainting.WhileIwasattheuniversity,Itooksomepaintingandartcourses.IfoundpaintingcouldrelaxmeandenablesmetoseethingsinabetterperspectivewhenIwasdepressedorwhenIhadaproblem.
InthefuturemygoalistogetmyM.A.andmyPh.D.fromanAmericanUniversityinthefieldofChemistry.IplantoreturntoChinatoteachinamiddleschooloraUniversity.ThisisbecauseIfeelverystronglythatChinaneedsbettereducated,betterinformedteachers.
